What happens if I test positive?
If you are tested reactive for HIV, we will take a blood sample for a confirmatory test and send it to the Dr. Risch laboratory. A reactive result is not a diagnosis and must be confirmed. It is possible that the confirmatory test will show negative for HIV.
If you test positive for HIV, you will receive the notification and the result from Checkpoint Zurich. They work closely with TEST-IN and have experienced medical staff. They will accompany you through the rest of the process, can answer your questions and are there for you.
Antibiotic treatment is necessary for bacterial infections such as syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea. It is important that your most recent sexual partners are informed of the findings and also undergo treatment. If you treat yourself alone, there is a very good chance that you will get the infection again from your sexual partners. Such ping-pong transmissions are lengthy, tedious, unsexy and can be prevented.
We cannot offer you treatment at TEST-IN. We work closely with our partner, Checkpoint Zurich, which we can recommend for treatment. You can also seek treatment at another medical institution. If required, we can send you the lab sheets, please contact us by e-mail or telephone.
